Uncle and Auntie in San Francisco!!!

First Word?

Eliza's First Word. January 2009. She sort of says Mama and she sort of says Dada, but not necessarily at the appropriate time. But when she sees Bob, she definitely says Bob.

What's new?

Since this is the equivalent of Eliza's baby book, I just wanted to add some bits and pieces of her development for myself.
Our biggest milestone reached this month is the eating of finger foods. She thoroughly enjoys feeding herself with her fingers. Her favorites at the moment are cheerios, avocado, cheddar cheese, , banana, hard boiled eggs, and melon. In fact, she'll pretty much eat whatever I put in front of her. But if I start with cheese, then she won't touch anything else, so I feed her sequentially from least favorite to cheese. This week she's been LOVING yogurt and has a newfound love for green beans.
She's been working on clapping her hands for a few weeks now and today, while she was sitting in her crib playing, I caught that "ah ha" moment. She'd pull her arms way out to her sides and then with all of her might, bring them together. If her hands made a clapping noise, she'd shriek with delight. Too cute. Atta Girl EK.
She's been working hard on saying "earl." It sounds like "Oool."
Still no crawling, although she rolls a bit more and scoots backwards like a champ. She'll stand while holding onto the furniture and thinks it's awfully fun to push herself off and try to balance by herself. This gives me much stress. If I leave her to sit and play with her toys on the floor, she somehow manages to spin herself a full 360 degrees in about 20 minutes.
Speaking of spinning, the girl never wakes up in the same place she falls asleep. She spins like a top in that crib of hers.

8 Months Old... Holy Cow!

In the morning hanging out on Mommy and Daddy's bed

And I'm pooped so I'll just crash out here on GG Bear

AFter all of that playing, I gave myself a bottle. All by myself... sort of.

Mom was changing the sheets on my bed so all my crib friends came down to party with me and Uncle Bob on the floor. Woo Hoo!

Holidays 2008

A quick glimpse at Eliza's first holiday season. For starters I can't believe she's almost 8 months old. She's outgrowing her clothes so fast I can't keep up, although mysteriously some articles of clothing seem to fit her for months at a time. For instance, her "Eliza" Hoodie that Aggie got for her, she's been wearing since she was 3 months old and it still fits, but the sweater I bought for her last month I can't get her head through. Weird. Very weird.
She's giggling up a storm these days and the fits of raspberries are hilarious. She says mama and dada and bob and earl but only if prompted and i'm sure she has no idea what she's saying still. She's learning to say "uh oh" which is pretty darn cute. And she's finally mastered how to successfully get the cheerios from her fingers into her mouth and keep them there long enough to eat them. She pretty much has a Cheerios obsession. She loves her Johnny Jumper now that she's perfected the jumping part. Still only 2 teeth. Any day now. I keep saying that. She got kissed on New Years by Evan and Jody's son Grady. That was pretty cute. (Check it out on You tube. My user name is shmorrow76)
Okay so here are some pictures from the past week.
